For hill walkers Slioch, the Torridon mountains and An Teallach
are all within easy reach, there are forest walks around beautiful
Loch Maree with its wooded islands and tranquil shores it
is almost certainly one of Scotlands most beautiful lochs.
At the southern end of the loch lies the Beinn Eighe National
Nature Reserve where Golden Eagles and other spectacular wildlife
can been seen on most occasions.
For those who enjoy a spot of fishing the local lochs and
rivers are primed with a good catch, the famous River Ewe
for Salmon and Loch maree for trout.
Gairloch offers clean safe beaches for all the family, at
the harbour you can watch the fishing boats come and go. Theres
a pitch and Putt for the amateur golfer and the local Leisure
centre welcomes all visitors young and old to the area. The
village of Poolewe has a small swimming pool open all year
round.
